Bengaluru, August 11: "After carefully reviewing the state's water situation, the next step will be taken regarding the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee's (CWRC) order to release 12,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu," said DK Shivakumar.
Shivakumar responded to media queries at the Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday.
"He advocated for complying with the court order while also protecting the interests of farmers. Considering both aspects, the matter has already been discussed with the Minister of Irrigation," he said.
"The inflow into the state's rivers is being closely monitored. Local meetings will be held with farmers to discuss crops. Decisions on farming should be made considering the water storage in all reservoirs, including KRS, Tungabhadra, and Almatti, not just Cauvery," he said.
If everyone exercises restraint, all problems will be resolved amicably
Responding to a media query about the possibility of farmers protesting, he said, "I work transparently. Decisions are not made for the sake of politics or to speak in front of the media. No one can stop the water. People should exercise restraint. We are with you, and we are here for you. People have given us the power to protect farmers. We will not allow any farmer to be troubled for any reason. If we are satisfied, all problems will be resolved amicably. Nature will protect us."
Meeting tomorrow to discuss party's future plans
When asked about the meeting of ministers scheduled for Wednesday, "A political meeting has been called for Wednesday with ministers and 15 party leaders to guide and discuss the party's future plans. A cabinet meeting is scheduled for Thursday," he said.
